What is virtual twilight?

Virtual twilight (also called "day-to-dusk") is a professional editing technique that transforms a daytime exterior photo into a dusk scene. We replace the sky with a rich twilight sky, warm the windows so they glow as if the lights are on inside, balance the exterior and landscape lighting, and add the soft ambient glow that makes a home look its absolute best at the end of the day.

The result looks like it was captured during the real "golden hour", but it's created from a photo we already took during your standard daytime shoot. No second trip, no waiting on the weather.

Real twilight vs. virtual twilight

Real twilight photography requires the photographer to return to the property at dusk and shoot during the narrow window when the sky is the perfect color. It's beautiful, but it's also expensive (a separate trip), weather-dependent, and easy to miss entirely if a cloud rolls in.
