Why Short-Term Rental Media Is Different (and What Extended Usage Rights Mean)

Hosts sometimes ask why short-term rental photography is priced and licensed differently from a regular listing shoot. The answer comes down to who the photos are for and how long they work.
A different audience entirely
Listing photos sell a home once, to a buyer comparing square footage and condition. Rental photos sell a stay, hundreds of times, to guests comparing vibes on Airbnb and VRBO thumbnails. That changes how we shoot: rentals get a warmer, styled, hospitality look rather than bright-white MLS photography, plus the detail shots that win bookings, the coffee bar, the game room, the folded towels, the hot tub at dusk.
It also changes the coverage. A rental shoot deliberately takes longer than a listing shoot: a wide array of horizontal and vertical shots of the entire space, so you have the right crop for every platform, plus amenity details that answer guest questions before they're asked.
Different from a long-term rental, too
A standard rental listing needs a dozen honest photos for a one-time lease-up. A short-term rental is a hospitality business: the photos ARE the storefront, every night of the year. That's why STR media is a package of its own rather than a listing package with different captions, and why it includes things listing shoots don't, like twilights priced for hosts ($10 each, 3 for $25) and video built for social.
What extended usage rights actually mean
Standard listing photography is licensed to market one sale. Every short-term rental package instead includes extended usage rights: use your photos and video on every booking platform (Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com and the rest), your own direct-booking website, social media, and ads, for as long as you own the rental. Two limits keep it fair: the rights don't transfer if you sell the property, and the media can't be resold or relicensed to anyone else.
Spread one shoot across years of nightly bookings and it's the cheapest marketing a host owns.
Where to start
The short-term rental page has the full package, add-ons, a real case study, and 3D tours you can walk through. Rental packages start at $300 and deliver next day, with the extended rights included in writing.
